Term limits • As the petitions to Parliament expire after a year, how come the MPs’ terms don’t? asks Jonah Gachuki. “It’s high time the lawmakers were also subjected to term limits. This principle should also apply to all other representatives, including those of the workers’ unions such as Cotu, as well as the leaders of the teachers’ and nurses’ unions.” His contact is [email protected].

Schools chaos • There is nothing as irritating as making the same mistake over and over, says Carol Maina, on the senior school placement crisis. “Many students didn’t get the schools they selected. We had thought it would end with the introduction of the competency-based education. We should start the selection at Grade 6 to avert the confusion.” Her email address is [email protected].

Confusing • Wajir town has had a number of its private hospitals closed due to non-compliance with the Social Health Authority (SHA), says Ahmed Somow Ahmed. “However, the signage advertising the locations and services they offer is still intact thus causing some confusion among the public .The signage should be immediately removed.” His contact is [email protected].

Changing times • Why can’t the managers of hospitals be innovative like those of other businesses? asks Mwangi Karuga. “Why not have consulting services by phone. A consultation can easily be done via WhatsApp. If I want to buy a car, I need not travel to Japan as I can do this using my smart phone. A patient shouldn’t always have to go to hospital.” His contact is [email protected].

Bad road • Travelling along the Busia-Kisumu highway, Jim Okwako says he was disappointed by the poor condition of what was once one of the best roads in western Kenya. “Some sections have potholes and trenches at which motorists, including bus drivers, must slow down or risk smashing into them and causing accidents. What became of Kenya National Highways Authority’s maintenance teams?”
Have a smooth day, won’t you!
