What you need to know:

  • Our opposition leaders should put your egos aside and give us one strong candidate.
  • Ousmane Dembele should have invited his deadbeat father to the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Fuelling bribery • The idea of police asking the public to fuel their motor vehicles, as suggested by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, is unacceptable, says Evans Macharia Mwangi. “It would be an open cheque for corruption. How will we know when they have exhausted their monthly fuel allocation? And the CS calls us stupid. Have we sunk this far?” His contact is [email protected].

Political unity • Having only two major presidential election candidates serves the United States well, says Enrique Fabios. “It helps to narrow down the leadership choices in the top two directions. Our opposition leaders can do us a great service by uniting. They must get it right! Please put your egos aside and give us one strong candidate. Don’t let us down!” His contact is [email protected].

Boy child • Congratulations to the “six Kenyan golden girls and the single boy child” of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo from W. Kimariech, impressed with their exemplary performance and flying the national flag high. But with tongue-in-cheek he poses: “Wasn’t this a clear testimony that the boy child is endangered? Over to you, the sports gurus!” His contact is [email protected].

No royalties • For three years, Eldoret-based gospel musician David Chegerichman laments, a hardworking people have been denied the reward for their creativity and sweat. He says music royalties have not been paid for that long and he wishes the government could intervene. “It’s unfair for the artistes to live in poverty while athletes are prospering.” His contact is [email protected].

Disappointing • Ardent soccer fan Jim Okwako is both happy and upset about French star Ousmane Dembele’s winning of football’s most-coveted prize for players, the Ballon d’Or 2025. Says he: “He deserves the big honour but he chose to invite only his mother to the ceremony. Now that he’s an adult, couldn’t he just reconcile with his deadbeat father only for this one auspicious occasion? Fathers beware!”

Have a forgiving day, won’t you!
