Grade E • All the KCSE 2024 examination candidates deserve congratulations regardless of their performances, says Chris Kiriba. “Life doesn’t start and end with exams. The results only give the different pathways in life. However, the Education ministry owes Kenyans a good explanation for the 161 grade E results in the national schools. What really happened?” His email address is [email protected].

Kudos to MCA • Congratulating 64-year-old Uasin Gishu MCA David Leting for attaining a grade D- in the KCSE exams, university don XN Iraki says: “First, for his resilience as at that age, many don’t even read newspapers. Two, it’s his grade, no cheating. Three, he’s an inspiration to the next generation. And, it’s an experience and enrichment of his life. Can we take tea at university?” Email: [email protected].

Follow-up • As the Nation and other media follow up, profile and praise the KCSE examination heroes, Enrique Fabios says this is not good enough. “It would help a lot to do follow-ups on some of the past achievers. In 1988, one Gilbert Nyasoko Tengetta was reported to be the only student ever to top both the Class 8 and Form 4 exams. Where he is today?” His contact is [email protected].

Busia shame • As statisticians analyse the 2024 KCSE exam results, Jim Okwako is struggling to come to terms with the poor performance by the Busia County high schools, including one national school. Says he: “A school in our neighbouring Siaya County scored more grade As than our whole county. This is terribly embarrassing. The teachers should hold their heads in shame, but leaders must address this issue.”

Principles • Senior ODM politicians Anyang’ Nyong’o, James Orengo, Edwin Sifuna and Godfrey Osotsi deserve kudos for denouncing the excesses of the broad-based government, says George Tunya. “Their former colleagues, who used to be very critical of the government, have turned into court poets. Politicians should uphold the principles of justice and morality.” His contact is [email protected].

Have a principled day, won’t you!
