Make education free for Kenyan children
Education is a constitutional right of every Kenyan child and a social equaliser.
Uphold patriotism• Politicians should uphold and respect the Constitution to foster patriotism in youth, says John Mukiri. “Parents must be careful about the comments they make against the country, as children can pick them up and develop the wrong attitude. Even if what they say may be true, they should not force their personal views on the children. Let’s boost patriotism.” His contact is [email protected].

Humorous Raila• ODM founding leader Raila Odinga was a seasoned politician, but Dr Kennedy Miyoro Mochabo also loved his humorous side. Says he: “I once heard Agwambo giving the descriptions in fluent Kiswahili of the different names of the hairs growing in various parts of our bodies, starting with nywele. Can anyone explain why he did this? I found it very interesting.” His contact is [email protected].

Power outage• Residents of Ndori Village in Koguta, Upper Nyakach, Kisumu County, David Jasondu says, have been without electricity for several days after an electric pole collapsed. The Kenya Power office at Katito is aware but no action has been taken. “We were told technicians were handling emergencies in Bondo, the late Raila’s hometown. How long will we continue to suffer?” His contact is Tel 0722765856.

Free education• Education, the constitutional right of every Kenyan child, and a social equaliser, should be free of charge, says David Yator. Education Secretary Julius Ogamba’s directives on school fees with reduced capitation and poorly run schools, he laments, are just hampering education. “The late President Mwai Kibaki proved that free education is possible.” His email address is [email protected].

Rogue officers• Reports on security officers engaging in crime are worrying Cate Makena. She poses: “How can safety be assured when police are the thieves and hijackers? Even on the roads, bribery and extortion by these security officers are rampant. The government should improve the officers’ welfare with better remuneration and programmes to boost their incomes.” Her contact is [email protected].
Have a secure day, won’t you!
