All bark and no bite • The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is a toothless dog that should be scrapped, says Samuel Kibe. “Tell me of even one thing the NCIC has ever done to justify its existence. Apart from the yapping by those officials, nothing happens. The NCIC has instead increasingly become the home of moribund retirees.” His email address is samuelkibe3@gmail.com.

White elephant • A curious Nixon Wandabi wonders what became of the Trans Nzoia Upper Kwanza Sub-County Water Project. Says he: “It’s quite appalling that this has become a white elephant. The local residents still grapple with water scarcity, with 99 per cent relying on boreholes. The project was almost complete but the storage tanks are empty.” His contact is nixonwandabi@gmail.com.

Overused road • In the last two weeks, there has been an unusually heavy traffic of trucks on Katani Road starting from the Mombasa Road junction on Nairobi’s eastern outskirts and heading to the northeast, says Muthoni Gathaka. The trucks ferry rocks to a crusher. Katani Road is handling more traffic than it was meant for. Can the Transport ministry look into this?” Her contact is wanuty@yahoo.com.

Battered bus • A ramshackle bus Leonard Omogo has seen lately speaks volumes about the decline of what was once Nairobi’s great commuter bus service. Says he: “Kindly ask the management of Kenya Bus Service Management Ltd to do something about the tattered and broken seats on one of their buses, registration, No. KCH... Commuters deserve better.” His contact is lomogo6031@gmail.com.

Phone misuse • Though mobile phones have many advantages, they are, regrettably, used badly, says Mwangi wa Karuga. “These include drivers using phones while behind the wheel, which is very dangerous. Social life has been ruined as people prefer phones instead of chatting. Children chat on the phone instead of talking with parents. Please use phones wisely.” His contact is mwangikaruga8@gmail.com.

Have a useful day, won’t you!
