Democracy test: As he waits to see the Kenyans congratulating Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan for winning the just-ended election, Aggrey Choreh is not amused that she literally ran against herself. Says he: “It's unfortunate that the leadership in Tanzania has failed to live up to the founding fathers’ dream. But I wish our brothers and sisters peace and harmony.” His contact is [email protected]

Raila legacy. Founding ODM leader Raila Odinga’s death marks the end of a political era, but “the flame of the freedom struggle can only flicker but will never die”, says Taabu Tele. Odinga, he adds, played a key role in the fight for freedom, equity and dignity. “Fare thee well, Baba! The country is politically richer today, thanks to your relentless and risky sacrifices.” Email is [email protected]

True enigma. Raila “was truly an enigma”, says Limo Eliakim Esquire, adding: “He redefined his 'tribe' as including those who were with him in the fight for the second liberation, such as prominent lawyers Gitobu Imanyara, Paul Muite and Kiraitu Murungi, and much later, with Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua. Kudos to Odinga for his sacrifices for the tribe called Kenya.” His contact is [email protected]

Dead honour. Naming roads and stadiums after national heroes on their death doesn’t make sense to Mwangi wa Karuga, who poses: “How do they even appreciate or acknowledge the honour? It’s of no use feting the dead, as they are not there to see the recognition. And they can't even hear those glorious citations. Let’s decorate our heroes while they live.” His email address is [email protected]

Proper planning. While the efficiency and speed at which new stadia are being built is commendable, Churchill Amatha is unhappy with the prioritisation of development projects. “To make good use of resources, we need proper planning. How I wish manufacturing would be included to get more money into the people’s pockets. But the value chain approach is a great idea.” His contact is [email protected]

Have a valuable day, won’t you!
