County seeks Sh36bn to implement projects

Nyandarua County requires Sh36 billion to implement a raft of projects in its development plan, Governor Daniel Waithaka has said.
Mr Waithaka said the short and long term projects were identified through collated views from residents. The views culminated in the County’s Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).
The governor said his administration was seeking support from the national government and development partners to implement the projects since they could not be financed from revenue sourced from the county.
He was addressing Mashujaa Day celebrations at Ol Kalau on Sunday. Mr Waithaka urged all departments in the county to come up with strategic plans to help in the implementation of the CIDP.
On health, the county boss said the JM Memorial Hospital in Ol Kalau Town would be upgraded to level five while Engineer District Hospital would be turned into a referral hospital.
Mr Waithaka noted that since the introduction of free maternity services, the number of women delivering in hospitals had increased. He urged more mothers to take advantage of the services and minimise risks associated with home deliveries.
