Three demonstrators died on Thursday at Masimba Trading Centre Kajiado County after police opened fire on the crowd.

Mashuru police boss Charles Chepkong'a confirmed the deaths.

The locals had staged a protest against increased wildlife attacks in the area.

They had blocked the road and chaos ensued as police tried to disperse them.

Mr Chepkong'a said police have opened investigation into the incident.

"We are investigating what transpired. We urge members of the public to calm down.We will be able to share the information with the public in due course, "Said Chepkong'a on phone.

Kajiado Governor Joseph Lenku led county leaders in condemning the incident saying locals in the area have been living in fear because of human-wildlife conflict.
