A gathering of clergy in Kisumu, intended to celebrate faith and fellowship, descended into scandal when the daughter of a pastor was reportedly raped by a guest preacher.

The incident occurred on August 21, 2025 at a guest house owned by the pastor and his family. The facility had been hosting a group of ministers for an event intended to reinforce unity within the ministry.

According to the police, a woman had been instructed by her supervisor to deliver warm water to the rooms occupied by the visiting pastors.

At around midday, she entered one of the rooms where a preacher allegedly raped her. “She was pouring the water into a basin when the suspect grabbed her from behind, forced her onto the bed, and raped her,” read the police report.

The authorities later established that the survivor is the daughter of one of the pastors. She was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.

Police launched a manhunt which led to the arrest of the suspect in Homa Bay County on September 16. He was subsequently transferred to Kisumu, where he is due to stand trial on charges of rape under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act.

This case has come to light amid a public feud between the pastor and the accused, who were previously ministry partners.
