Trapped passenger in Kwale Dreamline bus crash dies

According to Samburu sub-County Police Commander Lydia Mambo, the bus, which was travelling from Nairobi to Mombasa, rammed into the rear of a stationary lorry at the road section between Mackinnon and Taru in Kwale County. Ms Mambo confirmed that among those who died was a passenger who was trapped in the vehicle.
“The truck had stalled on the road and its driver had not put up any warning signs, which may have contributed to the accident, according to our preliminary findings,” she said.
Police officers rushed to the scene and evacuated the passengers, with the injured taken to hospital for further medical attention.
According to Ms Mambo, the scene has been cleared and the two vehicles will be towed to Taru police station as investigations commence.
Coast Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Ms Asha Wario has cautioned drivers plying the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway to be vigilant and strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
“I want to urge drivers to be careful because most of these accidents happen in the morning. What this means is that they happen because of poor visibility due to morning showers,” said Ms Wario.
She maintained that drivers found flouting traffic rules will be prosecuted, adding that efforts are also underway to sensitise both bus and truck drivers.
