Thousands of residents and businesses in several parts of Nairobi face a three-day water shortage from Monday night as emergency repairs are to be carried out on a major pipeline supplying the city.

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company said the shutdown of the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete pipeline would begin at 11.59pm on October 26 and end at 11.59pm on Thursday, October 29.

In a public notice issued on Monday, the company said the interruption was necessary to allow the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) to undertake emergency repairs on the pipeline.

Residents and businesses have been advised to store sufficient water before the shutdown begins on Monday night to minimise disruptions to household activities and commercial operations.

The company said the emergency repairs were necessary to restore the pipeline and enable normal water supply to resume after the works are completed.
