10 killed, 15 injured in Naivasha night road accident
Wreckages of a Toyota Hiace Nanyuki Cab Shuttle and a Greenline Bus after they collided head-on, killing 10 of the passengers at Karai in Naivasha, along Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
Ten people died and several others were seriously injured following a tragic Sunday night accident in the Karai area of Naivasha in Nakuru county.
The accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway involved a bus that collided head-on with a matatu.
The bus operated by Greenline Bus Company was traveling towards Nakuru from Nairobi when it swerved off its lane, attempting to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle, but hit the Toyota Hiace owned by Nanyuki Cab Shuttle.
The accident occurred at the same place where former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo died weeks ago in a similar collision, which makes the area a black spot.
Nakuru County Police Commander Emmnauel Epuru confirmed that seven people died on the spot, while three others succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment in various hospitals where they have been rushed to.
He said that more than fifteen other passengers are receiving treatment in various hospitals within Naivasha subcounty.
"Officers responded quickly and cleared the scene. The wreckages were towed to be Local police station to ease traffic flow, which has already built up," Epuru said.
