A sombre mood has engulfed a family in Limuru, Kiambu County, after seven of its members perished in a road crash near Naivasha Town as they headed for the burial of a relative

The accident occurred at High Peak area along Mai-Mahiu-Naivasha highway.

A police report seen by Nation indicates the crash happened after a Toyota Prado rammed a trailer.

‘’The accident involved Sinotrack trailer driven by one Boniface Nyambu from Mai Mahiu towards Naivasha,’’ the report reads in part.

“A Toyota Prado, driven from opposite direction, overtook another motor vehicle and collided head-on with the oncoming trailer. As a result of the accident, three occupants in the car died on the spot."

Those who were killed have been identified as Francis Muturi, the driver of the Toyota Prado, Peter Mwangi, George Ngugi, Fidelis Muturi, Cathy Wanjiru, James Kirubi and Nimrod Munyaka with reports that the deceased include a father and his three sons.

The two occupants of the trailer are said to have escaped unhurt.

‘’All the occupants were destined for Longonot for the burial arrangement of another relative,’’ a police report further notes.

The seven bodies were taken to Naivasha and Nakuru morgues.

The wreckage of the motor vehicle has been towed to Naivasha Police Station as investigations continue.
