A teen boy found in school dormitory with a deep cut on his neck and bleeding heavily.
Police in Narok are investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy who was fatally injured under unclear circumstances at Narok SDA School on Sunday.
According to a police report, the Grade Nine pupil was found in the school dormitory with a deep cut on his neck and bleeding heavily.
He was rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital by the school matron and a driver, but died while undergoing treatment.
News of the incident triggered tension in the area as angry residents attempted to set the school dormitory ablaze. Police officers intervened in time and managed to put out the fire before it spread further.
Narok County Director of Education Apollo Apuko urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
“We are closing this institution today, and we don’t expect any students to be here. We leave the matter to the DCI,” said Mr Apuko.
The incident was first reported by the school headteacher after receiving the disturbing news from the cook. Detectives later established that the boy was initially discovered by fellow pupils, who alerted the matron.
Investigators noted blood smears on a bench outside the dormitory, large pools of blood in the boys’ toilet and blood drops around the clothesline area.
Police have since arrested the school’s security guard in connection with the death.
“The scene was documented by crime scene personnel. An angry community had stormed the school, and one dormitory was set on fire, but officers from Narok Police Station, with the help of parents, managed to contain the situation. Officers are still monitoring the area,” the police report stated.
