Achieng Abura releases an Obama-themed song

I met the late Achieng’ Abura in April last year during the Garissa Memorial Concert at Uhuru Park. I had been a fan of hers for many years and was excited to finally meet her. She performed her song, "Maisha", while simultaneously doing justice to the piano. PHOTO | MILLICENT WACHIRA

Renowned Kenyan songstress, Achieng’ Abura, has released a new song inspired by “what the visiting President of the United States Barack Obama stands for”. The song, I believe, off her new album Rebirth, and set to be launched in September, talks of hope and the vision of a future united in a peaceful world, where all live a life of dignity and peace. Achien’g is an advocate of peace and is part of the Music Artistes for Peace Initiative that seeks to get artistes use their talents to enhance peace in the region.
