John Muchiri is a former entertainment and lifestyle writer with the Daily Nation and the Sunday Nation. Prior to taking up this post in June 2004, he was the senior writer and assistant editor of teen magazine The Insyder, since it's inception in 2001.
He was instrumental in profiling some of the biggest Kenyan musicians to date while at The Insyder and continued doing the same at the Daily Nation and Sunday Nation entertainment pull-outs.
John has covered some of the continent's biggest entertainment and cultural events, including the Big Brother Africa reality show in South Africa to the Africa Magic Movie awards in Nigeria, as well as major entertainment events within East Africa.
In South Sudan, John has been covering most of their pre-independence cultural and entertainment events that played a major role in uniting the nation after a 21-year civil war.
In December 2011, John received a Golden Mic award for great achievement in entertainment journalism.
