The case for keeping baby pictures off social media

There are no clear-cut rules on whether people, let alone celebrities, should share photos of their children on social media.
Victoria says it would not be okay if her daughter found out she had posted a photo of her that she did not like. “My daughter is in pre-teen age and some of her friends are online. It wouldn’t be fair to her if her friends found something online and said: ‘I saw your mum put something online about you.’ For her sake, I chose not to share,” she says.
Kantai still stands by his policy and, apart from his close friends and family, no one even knows the real name of his first born child whom he refers to as “Superman”.
Ladasha Belle, daughter of singer Size 8 and DJ Mo, probably has the highest number of followers on Instagram locally for a child — over 57,000. Size 8 says it was a personal decision she made to share the life and photos of her beautiful daughter, terming her a living testimony and a miracle.
Baby photos are always cute to look at and they generate many Likes on Facebook and Instagram. This could be a universal truth that rings true to any social media user, and that’s why people are quick to like, share and comment when the person we follow — celebrity or not — posts pictures of their adorable children.
Anyone would be delighted to scroll through a treasure chest of gorgeous babies on their timelines — what with the chubby cheeks, toothless grins, angelic faces and dollish poses?
