Lucas Barasa is the Regional Editor in-charge of Upper Eastern counties for the Nation Media Group. An all-rounder, Lucas mainly writes on political, regional, business and climate change. His work has taken him to various countries including Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Africa, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia and Germany.

Lucas has covered major events in the country, including the Gor Sunguh led Ouko Inquiry and the Annan Talks that ended Kenya's two months of post-election violence. Regionally, Lucas reported on the Somalia National Reconciliation Conference, the Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement, former South Sudan President John Garang's burial in Juba, the Darfur war and various East African Community Heads of State and Governments Summits.

Lucas was NMG's acting Bureau Chief in Eldoret between 2002 and 2003, at the time of Kenya’s transition from Kanu’s 40- year rule. He was transferred to Nairobi in October 2003.
