Kenyan-American soldier arrested at Tanzania border with grenades
Tanzanian authorities say a serving US Army Sergeant was found in possession of four CS M68 hand-launched grenades.
Tarime. Tanzanian police say they have arrested a dual citizen of the United States and Kenya, who is also a serving US Army Sergeant, after he was found in possession of four CS M68 hand-launched grenades.
The Tarime–Rorya Regional Police Command announced that on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at midday, officers at the Tanzania–Kenya border point in Sirari arrested the man, 30, after crossing from Kenya into Tanzania in a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Authorities added that, under Tanzania’s firearms legislation, even if he had applied for a permit, he would not have been authorised to enter the country with such weapons.
“Evidence is still being gathered alongside ongoing questioning regarding these allegations, so that appropriate legal action may be taken against him,” the police statement read.
