Aga Khan celebrates development ties with Kenya in 60 years of diplomacy
The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is one of the key private sector partners with which the Kenyan government has achieved significant milestones over the past 60 years.
This was evident at the launch of Kenya's 60 Years of Diplomatic Journey at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on Monday (December 2) when Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi visited the AKDN stand at the Comesa grounds.
During the event, AKDN’s Diplomatic Representative accredited to Kenya and Uganda Amin Mawji and Nooreen Kassam (Management and Programme Liaison) welcomed Mr Mudavadi to showcase the areas that the network has made achievements.
“We are proud of our association with Kenya because our development partnership goes back to over 120 years, twice as long as the 60 years of independence,” Mr Amin said.
He stated that AKDN is proud to have contributed in several areas of development ranging from education, healthcare economic development, early childhood development and the media, among other areas.
Several people who visited AKDN booth were taken through some of the key areas that the network has ventured into, which include; The Aga Khan University, The Aga Khan Foundation, The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, The Aga Khan Health Services, The Aga Khan Schools, Nation Media Group, Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), Serena Hotels, Tourism Promotion Services, Jubilee Insurance, Industrial Promotion Services.
“We are very proud of our long history and we continue to look forward to a long period of development partnership with Kenya,” Mr Amin said.
During the visit, Mr Mudavadi lauded AKDN for its collaboration with the government.
