Autopsy reveals how Cyrus Jirongo died

Ex-MP Cyrus Jirongo's postmortem results have revealed how he died on the night of December 13, 2025 in an accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

Speaking on Wednesday, Dr Joseph Ndung'u, the Jirongo family pathologist, said he died as a result of crash injuries to the chest and abdomen, as well as spinal injuries due to blunt force trauma.

He said the cause of death was blunt force trauma in the thoracic area, which resulted in multiple severe injuries. 

There were also fractures on both of Jirongo's lower limbs. Crash injuries were observed on the veteran politician's chest including multiple rib fractures. His heart was perforated and most of its blood vessels raptured. 

Crash injuries going his abdomen showed impact on the liver. Jirongo also suffered a damaged spinal cord.
