Billionaire Jackson Kibor’s widow survives fresh bid to oust her from Sh3bn estate

A bitter family battle over the late Jackson Kibor’s estimated Sh3 billion empire has taken another turn, with his youngest widow Eunita Kibor surviving a fresh attempt by his children to remove her as executor of the estate.
The Environment and Land Court in Eldoret has affirmed Eunita as a legitimate co-executor alongside lawyer Jonah Bundotich, dealing a setback to the children who had sought to oust her over allegations that she used a forged will.
Justice Emanuel Washe warned that removing Eunita from the management of the estate could not be done summarily and would require proper legal proceedings that could take at least two years.
“I will not allow my court to be used to aid an illegality... because I will be opening a Pandora’s box,” Justice Washe cautioned.
The judge pointed to what he considered a critical legal flaw in the children’s petition, saying that where fraudulent documents were allegedly used in estate transactions, the official complainant should legally be the executor of the estate itself.
Battle over prime properties
At the heart of the dispute is control of some of the late tycoon’s prime assets across the Rift Valley.
They include a lucrative commercial building in Eldoret City, the 320-acre Mafuta farm in Moiben and matrimonial properties in Chepkoilel and Ziwa.
Kibor’s children have accused Eunita of fraudulently allocating herself and her four children the lion’s share of their father’s wealth.
They have also accused her of collecting millions of shillings in rent from the Eldoret property without consulting the rest of the family.
But taking the stand, Eunita firmly defended her control of the town building, saying she holds it in trust for her four children and uses the proceeds to support their education.

She cited her eldest son, who is studying nursing in Australia, as among the children whose education she is supporting.
Represented by lawyer Karen Chesoo, Eunita, who married Kibor in 2002, also recounted the difficulties she has faced since the death of her husband.
She told the court that she was violently evicted from the Mafuta farm, which she said had been given to her by her late husband.
Despite the disputes, Eunita maintained that she has the full authority and goodwill of the deceased to execute his wishes.
A family fortune up for grabs
Kibor, a former Kanu powerbroker and self-proclaimed “Men’s Conference Chairman”, died in March 2022, leaving behind four wives and 27 children.
His vast estate includes prime agricultural land spread across Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia and Nakuru counties, as well as commercial properties in major cities, bank accounts and shares in top blue-chip companies.
The size and spread of the estate have turned the succession battle into a high-stakes family dispute, with rival claims over who should manage and ultimately benefit from the late tycoon’s wealth.
The latest ruling means Eunita remains in the position of co-executor as the wider dispute continues.
The hearing continues, with the court expected to give further directions on how the matter should be prosecuted.
