Beleaguered former Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has gone missing.
His lawyer Paul Nyamodi said that the whereabouts of Mr Tuju and his driver, Steve Mwanga, remain unknown since Saturday evening.
According to Mr Nyamodi, Tuju's son received a call from the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Karen Police Station informing him that his father's vehicle had been discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane on Saturday night.
“We just want to let you know that Raphael Tuju had an engagement at Ramogi radio yesterday (Saturday) evening at 7pm,” Mr Nyamodi said on Sunday evening. But he did not make it for that engagement.
He added that a missing person report had since been made at the Karen Police Station.
This development comes days after police officers forcefully took over his Karen property in a dramatic pre-dawn operation.
Mr Tuju a fortnight ago alleged that a large contingent of police officers stormed his Dari Park premises in Karen at around 3am, ejecting security personnel and sealing off the compound without a court order.
“They kicked out my guards and security. They have occupied my facility by force,” the former Rarieda MP said days before he vanished.
According to him, the operation disrupted at least 25 businesses operating within the compound, including his office.
Mr Tuju further alleged that powerful individuals were behind attempts to seize his property, claiming he had previously declined an offer from a senior political figure.
The reported disappearance now adds a new layer of intrigue to a long-running legal battle between Mr Tuju and the East African Development Bank over a Sh2.2 billion loan.
