Alliance Girls teacher exits in disgrace after 26 years following sex abuse exposé
Some alumnae of Alliance Girls High School stage a protest outside the school in Kikuyu, over alleged sexual harassment of students by a male teacher, on July 10, 2025.
Peter Albert Ayiro served for 26 years at Alliance Girls High School, where many of the early students regarded him as a pillar of their education.
But he now exits in disgrace, following an exposé by African Uncensored that placed him at the centre of years of sexual abuse of students at the national school.
On Monday, he tendered his resignation, his once-respected face now tied to the trauma of countless learners.
In his resignation letter to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Ayiro said the decision had not come easily.
“It is as a result of the false accusations levelled against me. I continue to endure evil, monstrous and persistent cyberbullying, threats of physical harm, public humiliation and even ostracisation from my church,” he wrote.
He added: “This has been an attack on my character, career and social standing, putting me under great stress and strain.”
He further urged the TSC to uphold fairness, transparency and support for all its employees in their noble role as educators.
Following the revelation of his alleged misconduct last July, Fida-Kenya called on the Ministry of Education to adopt clear policies on gender-based violence and harassment, including mandatory annual training and assessments for all teachers on preventing and responding to sexual and gender-based violence.
“The Ministry must also implement institutional mechanisms for students to report abuse without fear of retaliation. Finally, the Ministry must provide clear and enforceable measures to ensure the safety and dignity of all learners,” it said in a statement.
Even as he steps down, Kenyans are demanding accountability.
“Resigns and will not be prosecuted? He needs to face charges first,” an X user posted.
The Wangu Kanja Foundation said Mr Ayiro’s resignation leaves unresolved questions on accountability and justice for the affected learners.
“Peter Ayiro resignation now raises a critical question: what next?” the organisation posted on X.
It added, “Resignation does not automatically resolve the allegations. Learners deserve justice and protection.”
