Herman Manyora denies Sh516,000 Nairobi Hospital tender fraud charges
Political analyst Herman Manyora was released on a personal bond of Sh2 million by Milimani Principal Magistrate Paul Mutahi after denying charges of using fraudulent tricks to obtain Sh516,000 from Josephine Luceno.
Political analyst Herman Manyora has been charged in connection with the ongoing saga surrounding Nairobi Hospital, which has led to several directors being arraigned.
Manyora has been charged with cheating contrary to Section 315 of the Penal Code.
It is alleged that he obtained Sh516,000 through fraudulent means in a purported Nairobi Hospital tender deal.
He appeared before Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, where he denied the charges.
He was then released on a personal bond of Sh2 million with two contact persons.

According to the charge sheet filed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) after investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit, he is alleged to have obtained money from complainant Josphine Luceno Kavulani fraudulently.
Prosecutors told the court that the accused allegedly used fraudulent tricks to convince the complainant that he would facilitate the award of a tender.
The charge sheet reads: "That between 15th August 2024 and 30th October 2024, in Nairobi County within the Republic Kenya, by use of fraudulent tricks,you obtained Sh516,000 from Josphine Luceno Kavulani as a price to facilitate the award of the tender number TNH/ITB/016/24/ENGINEERING at Nairobi Hospital to her company namely Sipho Construction Limited, which monies she would not have been paid to you were it not for the fraudulent tricks."
Defence lawyers Nelson Havi, Jackson Kala, Danstan Omari and Ndegwa Njiru said the accused is a victim of an elaborate scheme against directors and board members of Nairobiu Hospital.
The lawyers said the accused is a senior citizen who cannot jump bail.
Among those listed as prosecution witnesses are the complainant Josphine Luceno Kavulani, Gilbert Nyamweha, Margaret Muiyro, Nelson Thiongo, and the investigating officer, alongside other potential witnesses.
Magistrate Mutai directed that the matter be mentioned on April 13, 2026, for directions.
