Poll: Ruto is leading presidential hopeful, but one in five voters still undecided

A new opinion poll released by Infotrak shows President William Ruto leading the field of potential 2027 presidential contenders with 32 percent overall approval, ahead of a crowded pack of Opposition figures.
The survey found Ruto's support slightly higher among male respondents (34 percent) than female respondents (30 percent). He is trailed by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 13 percent, former ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna at 12 percent, and former Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, also at 12 percent.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua polled at 4 percent overall, while Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and former Chief Justice David Maraga recorded 3 percent and 2 percent respectively. PLP leader Martha Karua registered 1 percent support.
Notably, a fifth of respondents (18 percent) remain undecided, with female voters more likely to be undecided than male voters (20 percent versus 15 percent). A further 3 percent said they would prefer not to disclose their choice.
The figures suggest that while Ruto retains a clear lead, no single Opposition figure has yet consolidated significant support, leaving a substantial bloc of undecided voters still up for grabs ahead of the 2027 General Election.
