The battle for the heart of the Mt Kenya vote basket has intensified with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki moving to woo retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to help in uniting the region behind President William Ruto's re-election, even as he insisted that the region’s best bet in the next poll is with President William Ruto.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has tightened his grip on the region following a resounding victory in Ol Kalou.
