Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna's Linda Mwananchi political faction on Saturday expressed confidence that the opposition has what it takes to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election as the group stamped its authority in Western Kenya, where it said it would rally support against the Head of State.
The faction is on a two-day tour of Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties and expressed confidence of winning the August General Election.
“We have gone to all parts of the country and I can tell you President Ruto has no vote. We don't hate the President, but as Kenyans we are suffering. Kenyans have no money, extrajudicial killings have been on the rise, the economy is doing badly, and that is why we want to take him home in 2027,” Mr Sifuna said while addressing a gathering at Moi's Bridge town.
He said they are engaging Kenyans to solidify support that will challenge and remove President William Ruto from power in 2027.
The team accompanying Mr Sifuna, in the rallies hosted by Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya, included Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, his Kakamega counterpart Boni Khalwale, Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, among others.
“We have come to show naysayers that we are united for a cause to liberate this country. We appreciate the support of Kenyans for this important political cause,” said Mr Natembeya.
Mr Owino castigated the Kenya Kwanza administration for exploiting Kenyans and making them poorer through punitive policies by the President Ruto-led administration.
Mr Khalwale said the die is cast for Mr Sifuna's presidency, adding that Kenyans are ready to elect him through the ballot in next year's polls.
“We are working to unseat President Ruto because many things are not working in the country, including SHA and CBE. Corruption is the order of the day,” he noted.
Senator Osotsi said the United Opposition will produce one candidate to face President Ruto on the ballot next year.
The convoy snaked through Kaplamai to Sibanga Market in Cherangany, with a stopover at Sibanga Market, where the leaders addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters.

At Sibanga Market in Cherangany, home to the late Luhya kingpin Masinde Muliro, the leaders said the rally was a symbolic gesture of respect for the late Luhya leader, who fought for good governance and respect for the rule of law.
Mr Owino said the tour also marked a memorable moment of reflection on history and respect for leaders like Masinde Muliro, who was embraced by the Luhya community.
“We have brought your son, we are holding him in high esteem, and we also want you, as a community, to support him in 2027,” said Mr Owino.
The leaders said Mr Sifuna has already received formidable support from the region in his ambition to become Head of State.
Other leaders included former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who asked Mr Sifuna to tour the country on a meet-the-people campaign to solidify his support base.
“Meru is for Mr Sifuna. I was humiliated and removed from power by the Kenya Kwanza government because I refused corruption. Now we are supporting Sifuna to bring change to the leadership of this country,” Ms Mwangaza said.
Pauline Njoroge said Mr Sifuna has been accepted by Kenyans and that the time has come to support the removal of President Ruto's administration next year.

“They have tried to look for mistakes by Sifuna, but they have found none. We want to tell them that we will support Sifuna both financially and politically,” she said.
Governor Natembeya said Western Kenya is fully behind Mr Sifuna and dismissed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula as selfish and outdated leaders who have lost touch with the region.
The leaders said President Ruto has been shown the red card by Kenyans and that it is time for him to vacate office in 2027, adding that the coming polls will be a defining moment for the country.
“Eat the money they give you and vote for the right leaders. Do not accept to be lured into voting for corrupt leaders because of handouts,” Mr Sifuna added.
Other Linda Mwananchi brigade members in the convoy included Caroli Omondi, Jack Wamboka (Bumula), Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai), Antony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache), Clive Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba), Kaiti MP Joshua Kivinda, Obadiah Barongo (Bomachoge Borabu), Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako, Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Pauline Njoroge, former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga and former LSK President Faith Odhiambo, among others.
Governor Natembeya was also commended for sacrificing his presidential ambition and agreeing to support Mr Sifuna's presidential bid.
