Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed that the party expelled its deputy leader Daadab Farah Maalim over recent utterances.

Musyoka said he regretted his support for Maalim, saying his recent utterances were akin to "looking down" on Kenyans.

“He used to be a reformist and I campaigned for him in Dadaab...It's heavy on my heart that he can say such utterances. From now henceforth, we have expelled him from the party,” he said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

Maalim is among leaders who recently made statements claiming that President William Ruto will get a second term through the ballot box or any other means. He insulted government opponents while defending the president and used unprintable expletives.

In July 2024, Maalim was summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) after making controversial remarks on anti-government protests, asserting that if he were the president, he would have killed 5,000 Gen Zs daily for participating in what he described as an attempt to overthrow a legitimate government.

Following the summons, Wiper had declared total war on its deputy party leader with the party's National Executive Council (NEC) calling for de-whipping of the MP from all leadership posts in Parliament, including the speaker's panel.
