The whereabouts of a woman believed to be the lover of a man who was shot dead on Saturday night outside DD Plaza in Eastleigh remains unknown.
Abdirahim Abdullahi Ibrahim, 25, was shot dead at point-blank range by an unidentified attacker as he chatted with another woman.
Abdirahman Mursal, the brother of the slain man, wondered why someone would kill his brother who only completed Form Four in March 2022. He was a student at Lami Secondary School in Moyale.
“My brother cleared his secondary education recently, he had not even joined any tertiary institution. Why would one want to end his life in such a brutal manner?” Mr Mursal posed.
Mursal told Nation.Africa his brother recently moved from California Area where he was residing and settled at Sixth Street in Eastleigh.
According to family and friends, Abdullahi and the woman, who owned a salon, had been in a relationship for eight months.
“Her whereabouts remain unknown ever since the incident took place but we hope that she will be found so she can give details of what transpired,” a family source told Nation.Africa on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Good relationship
The family member said the two were in a very good relationship and never shied to speak about it amongst relatives.
Meanwhile, Ms Amina Abdullah, the woman who was captured chatting with Abdullahi and fled into the building after he was shot remains in police custody.
Makadara Law Courts allowed the application by the prosecution to detain her as investigations continue.
Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) believe that Amina may have information that might assist them unravel what transpired on the day Abdullahi was shot dead.
She is detained at Buruburu Police Station.
When Nation.Africa visited the scene of crime on Tuesday morning, locals said Amina was well known to them. They said she sold tea and khat, a stimulant drug.
“I know her so well and she lives in DD Plaza. She usually hawks tea and also sells khat,” said a person who runs a boutique near the building where she resides.
DD Plaza is a six-storey building located within Eastleigh’s 15th Street. The ground floor is fully occupied with shops.
A few minutes later, Amina walked out of the gate and spent more than 35 minutes chatting with Abdullahi. The attacker casually walked towards them and shot Abdullahi before taking away something from him. He then strolled away.
Two other persons believed to be of interest in the investigations are a night guard and an unidentified man who was last seen talking to Amina on that night.
Police believe that the four will help in investigations.
On Tuesday, the family of the slain man spent the better part of the day at the Buruburu Police Station.
He will be buried on Sunday at the Lang’ata Cemetery.
A postmortem examination revealed that Abdullahi died due to excessive blood loss following a gunshot wound to the neck.
