Legislator vanishes with millions
A first term Senator took to his heels and jumped onto a boda boda after receiving millions of shillings meant for a State-backed grassroots political programme. The lawmaker was given the money to share with the delegation that came for the event but upon getting the funds, he vanished — to the disbelief of other elected leaders. So quick was the Senator that even his security details and driver did not know how he’d left the venue.
The driver was left confused in the parking lot. Witnesses say the lawmaker took the available boda boda he found by the roadside with firm instructions to ride fast to an unknown destination.
Chopper ride to village birthday party
A senior government official recently left villagers in awe after landing in a helicopter to attend the birthday party of a low-profile political propagandist, who is loud on social media. The showy entry turned heads as those attending the event momentarily forgot why they were there and shifted their focus to the official’s arrival.
Critics said instead of focusing on weighty matters with the government resources at his disposal, he was busy lending prestige to a man who trades in nothing more than village gossip. An ex-MP from a county in Nyanza is reportedly seeking to align himself with a governor aspirant from the region, who has deep connections with State House, in the hope of securing both financial backing and a support base. He is said to be financially constrained and is desperately struggling to re-establish his influence at the grassroots.
With little political grip on the ground and dwindling resources, he has now resorted to relying heavily on the gubernatorial candidate’s stature and financial muscle to revive his own political fortunes. The wealthy aspirant, however, sees him as a burden and it’s just a matter of time before he is dropped.
CS happy as MPs called out on graft
A Cabinet Secretary was on Thursday heard celebrating the ongoing war between President William Ruto and MPs over bribery allegations. The CS in a lucrative ministry was overheard telling a colleague during a function that he has suffered in the hands of some legislators since joining the broad-based government. The man was grateful the President had come to his rescue and that of Cabinet colleagues as every time he was invited to appear before a committee he had to carry not less than Sh3 million to “soften the ground”. He hopes the pressure will be sustained to save him from the usually difficult engagements.
Intruding MP chased away like a thief
A first-term lawmaker from Mt Kenya was kicked out after walking in unannounced to the residence of a high-ranking government official. The big man was holding a sensitive meeting when the lawmaker walked in to the disbelief of those present. The MP did not have an appointment nor did he make any phone call before coming. Annoyed by the legislator’s move, the big man told policemen in the highly guarded area to throw the “intruder” out immediately. The talkative MP was heard pleading with the dreaded security officers to spare him the embarrassment but they could hear none of it as they forcefully escorted him out.

Just how adventurous were participants of a high-profile conference held in the coast? Well, the participants did not just leave broken families behind but also happy business people who cashed in on their generosity. Some residents have whispered to Talk of Town how the participants did not only paint the town, especially in entertainment joints, but did not also spare wives and husbands of some families in the area. Taxi drivers also reaped big from the “demand” by transporting women from nearby towns to some of the delegates, who seemed happy to mix the serious business of the conference with pleasure.
