Talk of Town: Lawmaker rejects party boss’s Sh500,000 monthly cash demand
A party leader is demanding a monthly Sh500,000 "loyalty tax," arguing the MP must 'give back to Caesar'.
Opposition party in rough waters
The loud silence of a party official in the United Opposition has begun raising eyebrows. Our little bird in the political formation whispered to Talk of Town that the official is plotting to join the ruling United Democratic Alliance as he schemes for 2027. The official has already vowed to support the incumbent governor from his county as part of a strategy to also make it to Parliament. Those close to power have promised to finance his campaigns in order to defeat the current holder of the seat, who of late has taken a different political direction.

Party chief’s ‘outrageous’ demand
Still in politics, a party leader is the subject of discussion among his allies after his outrageous cash demand unsettled a lawmaker in the outfit. The party leader is demanding at least Sh500,000 every month from one of the lawmakers. According to our sources, the party boss claims the man, who was in a lowly paid profession before getting into elective politics, is now earning millions of shillings and should “give back to Caesar”. The MP has, however, rejected what he terms as extortion, saying he is ready to seek alternatives ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Gasbag Woman Representative
A first-term Woman Representative is the talk of town among executives over her failure to shut up or at least watch her words when it matters most. According to our mole, the MP cannot just keep a secret after getting favours from powerful offices and forces. Recently, she was assisted to get some slots in an organisation that was recruiting, only for her to announce to her colleagues how she got the positions from a powerful office. The next day, many lawmakers were at the influential office demanding the same number of slots. Executives have vowed never to assist the Woman Representative.

State officer interference
Just what is going on in one of the powerful offices where ordinary people rush to get help? Well, the previous holder – who got into another equally powerful position – is still calling the shots years after leaving. Our interactions with employees revealed that the former boss still determines what goes on daily and that the current office-holder is just a figurehead, who trembles any time the man calls. It is reported that the current boss got the job through the help of his predecessor, as he did not qualify, making it difficult to question any interference.

By-election betrayal
The shock of losing a seat in one of the strongholds of a political party refuses to go away. It is emerging that a senior official of the party quietly sponsored the rival candidate who won the seat. The top official, according to our source, had the full backing of the government, whose determination to show strength ahead of the 2027 elections is ill-disguised. The party leader has got wind of what transpired in the November by-election and is plotting to kick the official out as the drama unfolds.

Intimate message to MCA exposed
A Member of County Assembly from the Rift Valley is in a state of embarrassment after a private love message to his side chick ended up in his WhatsApp status, sending tongues wagging at the assembly and beyond. The married MCA was expressing love to his new catch through the message, where he also justified extramarital affairs. Though the message did not stay up for long, many of his colleagues and supporters took a screenshot and are now using it to make fun of him, while others have shared it on other platforms. For the Ward Representative, the episode has become a painful reminder that in politics and on social media, mistakes rarely remain private.
