Mistrust in opposition after by-election
The mistrust in the United Opposition is getting more intense after a string of losses in the Thursday by-elections where the ruling United Democratic Alliance scooped all the four seats on offer. After the results were announced, a WhatsApp group with experts working for the opposition started asking questions about the value some of the leaders are adding to the anti-Ruto forces. The opposition leaders are worried that if they can’t even win ward seats, then it means they still have a lot of groundwork to do in 2027. There are also suspicions against alleged moles who are thought to reveal secrets to the government, with some opposition figures suggesting they should be kicked out.

Three aspirants meet in big office
Was it planned or just a coincidence? Three leaders met at a senior party officials’ office with each shocked to see the other. The politicians included a governor and two MPs both seeking to send the county chief home in 2027. While the governor and one legislator were at ease with each other and even shook hands, one MP was shocked when he got into the room to find his rivals already seated. It is not clear whether the leader whose office the meeting took place is seeking to forge a deal between the three who are all his friends or if it was just coincidence.

Nominee ‘lonely’ during vetting
Was a group of MPs supposed to accompany a nominee to vetting before the plan collapsed? Well, our little bird in a powerful office whispered to Talk of the Town that some lawmakers developed cold feet and abandoned the plan altogether due to deep political differences. Some leaders were heard saying it was unnecessary to accompany the nominee since it was obvious the position wasn’t going to anyone else. For others, a broken relationship forced them to keep off the battalion of those that were to accompany the nominee into the vetting chamber. Those who kept off are said to be marked ahead of the 2027 elections.

Comeback bid unsettles party officials
A youthful former lawmaker, who is seeking to make a political comeback, has become the talk among voters on whether he can be trusted with the party’s ticket. Supporters are concerned the man, who drinks himself silly, will not give them proper representation in Parliament going by his past records where he served for one term. Though the man now pretends that he is sober and has left the bottle, senior party officials are not convinced that he deserves the ticket. There are, however, those who feel that the politician has become a critical face of the party anytime they have a rally in the region and should be given one more chance to prove himself.
