Ten people have been confirmed dead following a grisly road accident near Lake Oil Bridge in Gilgil along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway.

The crash involved a matatu that was ferrying passengers and a truck that had reportedly stalled on the road.

Gilgil sub-County police commander Winston Mwakio, who confirmed the accident, said the matatu rammed into the rear of the stationary truck, leading to the fatal incident.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.

“Officers are on the ground working to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow,” he said.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially along the busy stretch, during the Easter holidays
