Government to cover Austin Oduor’s funeral expenses

The government will cater for the funeral expenses of former Harambee Stars captain Austin Oduor who died on October 15 aged 65.
Eliud Owalo, the chairman of the National Steering Committee arranging for ‘‘Makamu”Oduor’s funeral, said the burial will held on November 9 at the fallen football legend’s Makunga home in Navakholo Sub-County, Kakamega County.
“The government through the Ministry of Sports will accord Austin a send-off commensurate with his stature and contribution to Kenyan football,” said Owalo, who is also the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of performance and delivery Management in the Executive Office of the President of Kenya.
Owalo together with members of the funeral committee made the announcement early this week after visiting Oduor’s home in Makunga accompanied Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier and Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula.
Also in attendance were Kenyan football legends John Bobby Ogolla, Washington Muhanji, Aggrey Lukoye, Nahashon Oluoch “Lule”, Leonard Khayota, Peter Dawo and Dennis Munyendo.
Others were James Gor Oronge, Ben Musuku, George Onyango “Fundi”, Dan Musuku, Tobia Ocholla “Jua Kali, Maurice Khayota, Isaiah Omondi “Janabi”, Maurice Ouma “ole Tunda” and Mike Otieno.
