Kenya to play home team Morocco, Algeria and Senegal in 2026 women’s Afcon

Kenya women’s football team, Harambee Starlets, have been drawn in Group “A” of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) finals alongside Hosts Morocco, Senegal and Algeria.

Morocco will host the tournament from March 17 to April 3.

The draw was conducted on Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco. Sixteen teams will feature in the continental showpiece, which will also serve as a qualifier tournament for the 2027 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The four semi-finalists will claim direct tickets to the global finals, with two additional nations heading to intercontinental play-offs.

Making only their second appearance at Wafcon after their debut in 2016, Kenya are in the same group with hosts Morocco, Senegal, and Algeria.

Record 10 - time champions and holders Nigeria are in Group “C” alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi.  Group “B” members are 2022 champions, South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, while Group “D” consists of Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde.
