For Nairobi United, the wait for a first win of the season continued after they drew 1-1 with Bandari at Police Sacco Stadium while APS Bomet battled to a barren draw with Murang’a Seal at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.
While Leopards are eyeing their first title of the competition since 1998, they have had a slow start, leaving their fans anxious.
Before their round five clash with Homeboyz, Ingwe had registered just one victory - a 2-1 win over Kenya Police and registered barren draws against Bandari, Shabana and Mara Sugar.
Ingwe carried the day thanks to goals by Emmanuel Lwangu and James Kinyanjui in the 44th and 54th minutes respectively. Kinyanjui provided the assist for Lwangu.
In their last seven meetings before Sunday’s encounter, Homeboyz held an upper hand with three victories against Leopards’ two, while the other two encounters ended in draws.
After opening their campaign with a 1-0 win over Mombasa, Homeboyz have yet to register another victory – drawing one and losing twice.
Following the win, the unbeaten Leopards moved from fifth to third on the log with nine points. KCB are second with 10 points while Gor remain top of the table with 12 points.

Leopards coach Fred Ambani attributed the win to the hard work they put in training during the week.
“Our tactical display was superb throughout the match. We had to go and work on how we want to play, and I think what we did in the last three-four days has really helped us,” said Ambani.
"Our team has several experienced players, and so we expect better from them. We have been scored from our own mistakes. Our players must come out of their comfort zone,” Manoah said.
The loss to KCB was Gor’s first this season. The bankers secured the important win through goals by Assis Batshi and Richard Omondi in the 20th and 33rd minutes, respectively. K’Ogalo reduced the deficit in the 37th through a penalty by Alpha Onyango.
KCB finished the match with 10 men after defender Baron Ochieng was sent off late. Gor Mahia headed into the match on the back of a perfect run, having defeated Murang’a Seal, APS Bomet, Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari.
KCB have recorded three wins, one draw and one loss.
