After three consecutive draws in the SportPesa League, AFC Leopards finally rediscovered their winning formula on Saturday as they beat KCB 2-1 at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
Leopards took the lead just a minute into the match through Boniface Munyendo, who slotted home from a close range after connecting a pass from Samuel Ssenyonjo.
However, the bankers drew level in the 55th minute through Francis Kahiro. But Leopards had the last laugh when Christopher Koloti scored the match winner in the 73rd minute after being put through by Ronald Shichenje. Leopards coach Fred Ambani praised his players for the crucial win.
"I’m happy the new players have started adapting to our style. We will rectify the mistakes we made today and improve before the next match," said Ambani who had earlier issued a public apology to club fans for the disappointing run of three winless matches.
On his part, KCB coach Robert Matano expressed optimism that his team would bounce back in the next match away to Murang’a Seal.
Following the win, the 12-time league champions moved up to seventh spot on the table with six points accumulated from four matches. The bankers, who have played five matches, are placed eighth.
When league matches were postponed last weekend, following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Leopards were sitting 15th on the 18-team table, just one place above the relegation zone.
On Wednesday, Ingwe will be away to leaders Shabana at Gusii Stadium where a win will hoist them to the top five bracket.
At Kasarani Annex grounds in Nairobi, APS Bomet registered their first win in the top flight league by edging out Kariobangi Sharks 2-1.

In another match at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County, Kakamega Homeboyz thrashed Ulinzi Stars 3-1. Henry Omollo, Hillary Otieno and Bonface Muchiri were on the scoresheet for the hosts, while Estone Omengo scored the solders' consolation goal with 10 minutes minutes left.
