KCB gives Sh80m for EA Golf Tour

- Other legs will follow in Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Kiambu, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Kericho, Machakos, Kisumu, Kisii, Laikipia and Nandi counties. The top teams will qualify for the tour’s grand finale scheduled for December.
Building on the success of the past two years, KCB Bank has put in Sh80 million for the 2025 KCB East Africa Golf Tour that will this year have 30 legs.
The series will be held in 16 counties in Kenya and in the other four East African countries namely Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda.
Speaking during the series launch at Royal Nairobi Golf Club Thursday, KCB Group Treasurer, Anthony Mulisa said: “East Africa Golf Tour continues to grow as a platform of amateur development, inclusivity and regional collaboration.
“Our objective is to expand the sport and allow budding golfers to hone their skills in line with our brand purpose ‘For People. For Better’.”
He said the move showed KCB’s commitment to nurturing talent, strengthening regional unity, and promoting the sport of golf as a driver of social and economic expansion.
“By all standards, the last two editions of this exciting golf competition have played a critical role in championing inclusivity, fostering regional collaboration, and advancing the growth of golf in the region,’ he said.
He said KCB has been synonymous with sports in the country for over two decades now. “Our unwavering support of sports is part of our larger corporate citizenship agenda aimed at elevating individuals and communities.
During the period, we have channelled nearly Sh3 billion towards the enhancement of golf, motorsports, athletics, rugby, chess, volleyball, and football. Our sponsorship has seen the rise of global superstars who have gone ahead to position Kenya as a hub for sporting excellence’’.
During last year’s edition, the second of the series, held in Kenya and Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda, 3,000 golfers participated including 1,500 juniors who took part in golf clinics.

Royal Nairobi Golf Club Chairman Henzron Arunga thanked KCB for choosing his club to launch the KCB East Africa Golf Tour. He said the club is improving its course facilities as it prepares to celebrate 100 years of Kenya’s most popular inter-club tournament, the Tannahill Shield.
“This year is very important for Royal which is Kenya’s oldest golf club having been established in 119 years ago. Soon we will invite the DP World Tour to come and have a look at our course facilities as we endeavour to bid for the Magical Kenya Open’’ said Arunga.
