Sections of Sigona Golf Club have been destroyed by fire.
The fire broke out on Friday night and partially gutted the clubhouse.
This is the second time in three months that a golf club in the country has suffered from a fire tragedy.
The Limuru Country Club fire incident on January 5 completely damaged the club house.
A brief statement from the Sigona club chairman Muraya Kariuki on Saturday said: “We regret to inform you of a fire incident that occurred at our club house yesterday evening, March 21, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM.

“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and remains unknown. We would like to acknowledge the prompt and dedicated efforts of our Club fire marshals and the Kiambu County emergency who worked diligently to contain the situation and minimize damage.
Temporary closure
“We are thankful to report that no staff, members of guests present, were injured’’ said Muraya.
“Given this situation, the club house will remain temporarily closed until further notice to allow for thorough investigations and safety evaluations. We understand this may cause inconvenience. However, the golf course will remain open, and the planned draw for Saturday’s competition will proceed as scheduled. Management is actively working to provide members with bar and selected catering services.
“We will keep you closely informed of our progress and provide further updates regarding the reopening of the Club-house as soon as we have more clarity,”the club boss said.
Sigona, with its hilly and beautifully landscaped course, is home to one of the premier events in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series - the Sigona Bowl. It was established in 1938.
