The 2025 Sunset Golfing Society series grand finale will be held at the par 70 Nyanza Golf Club course this weekend.

The series’ grand finale, popularly known as the “Sunset Golf Festival,” has been taking place since 1996.

Events are run in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu alongside activities supporting junior golfers and education.

The festival kicked off yesterday with the Junior Golf Tournament.

This will be followed by the main event today and tomorrow.

The society chairman, Eden Odhiambo, noted their growing impact in youth development.

“Junior golf is the foundation of our future. We are proud to nurture a new generation of golfers and support the growth of the sport across the region,” he said

The society captain, Felix Ochieng, said the tournament had attracted 200 golfers, showing one of the strongest turnouts.

“The excitement this year is remarkable. With over 200 players ready to bring their A-game, we expect a vibrant and highly competitive event,” said Ochieng.

Beyond the fairways, the Society will host a meet-and-greet with its scholarship beneficiaries tomorrow.

Vice Chair and CSR Convenor Sylvester Odhiambo remarked: “Every scholarship represents hope and opportunity. Our impact goes far beyond golf, and we remain committed to supporting the next generation.”

Supported

This year’s Sunset Golf Festival is supported by VIP Luxury Hotels, Inuka Hospital, Floating Beach Apartments, CIC Life, Stanbic Bank, Riley Falcon Security, Nupea and Jibu Water.

Meanwhile, the “Mulembe Home Coming” tournament, which rotates between Kitale and Kakamega, is back in the Trans Nzoia capital for its third edition.

It started yesterday with a golf clinic conducted by Mulembe golf professionals led by Dismas Indiza, Jeff Kubwa, David Wakhu and Robinson Owiti.

This is in addition to a junior golf clinic to be conducted by the pros.

Action proper starts today as the pros battle it out for a piece of the Sh500,000 purse, while the elite amateurs also fight for the Sh300,000 prize money on offer.
