What you need to know:

  • At the bottom of the table, Lipalikes and Nairobi Prisons will be seeking their first wins of the season in their respective fixtures.
  • Nairobi Prisons, second from the bottom with one point from four matches, will face Kenya Army, while Lipalikes, winless from three matches, take on Post Bank in one of the five fixtures lined up.

Defending champions KCB Women’s Volleyball Team captain, Edith Wisa, has acknowledged the growing strength of unbeaten Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) ahead of their highly anticipated clash in the fourth leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium, Nairobi on Thursday.

Wisa, who also serves as the Kenya national volleyball team assistant captain, admitted that DCI have significantly improved and cannot be taken lightly, especially after their impressive run in last December’s Kipchumba Karori International tournament in Eldoret.

“DCI have improved tremendously and you cannot wish them away. They had a good outing in Eldoret where we played them in the final, but we eventually won 3-1. For them to reach that stage was proof of their capabilities. In previous seasons, they have always pushed us to the wall, and I believe it will not be different this time,” said Wisa on Wednesday.

Despite the challenge ahead, Wisa remains optimistic about KCB’s readiness for the match.

“We have trained well and are ready to face them. We thank God that there is no major injury in the team, except for Mercy Moim, who had a knee injury last week but is now back and available for selection.

DCI is a strong side, but we want to play well and win to move up in the league standings. We will also use these matches as preparation for the upcoming African Clubs Championship next month in Nigeria,” she added.

On the other hand, DCI’s dependable outside hitter and Malkia Strikers trialist, Sarah Namisi, remained reserved about the upcoming encounter, simply stating that they would give their best and see how the match unfolds.

In the league standings, DCI are currently third with 12 points from four matches, while KCB are fourth with 11 points from five matches.

Kenya Pipeline lead with 16 points from six matches, followed closely by Kenya Prisons with 15 points from the same number of games.

At the bottom of the table, Lipalikes and Nairobi Prisons will be seeking their first wins of the season in their respective fixtures.

Nairobi Prisons, second from the bottom with one point from four matches, will face Kenya Army, while Lipalikes, winless from three matches, take on Post Bank in one of the five fixtures lined up.
