Awards gala to launch action-packed season
The Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF) will kick off the 2025 motorsport season with its annual excellence awards on February 15–16 in Nairobi. This event opens a packed calendar headlined by the WRC Safari Rally, scheduled for March 20–23 in Naivasha
The Safari Rally will count towards the World Rally Championship (WRC), Africa Rally Championship (ARC), and Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC).
In the 2024 KNRC season, Samman Vohra and Alfir Khan, driving a Skoda Fabia, emerged national rally champions.
This victory marked Vohra’s maiden championship win in a season severely affected by weather conditions, resulting in only three completed events: Eldoret, Nanyuki, and the Safari rallies.
“Force majeures, or conditions beyond the organisers’ control, applied to the KRT, KMSC, Nakuru, and Mombasa rallies,” explained KMSF General Manager Mwaura Njunguna.
Despite these challenges, Vohra secured the title with 66 points, finishing 14 points clear of runners-up Jasmeet Chana and Ravi Chana, who drove a Ford Fiesta Rally 2.
The 2025 calendar will conclude with the East African Safari Classic Rally, running from December 7–14 across Kenya and Tanzania.
Before the Safari Rally, the Simba Union Club will host the season-opening autocross event in Nairobi on March 1–2. The first national karting competition will follow in Nakuru on March 8–9, hosted by the Rift Valley Motor and Sports Club.
The year’s rally raid season will start with the first of four events on March 29–30, organized by the Simba Union Club. Rallye Sport Club will then host its second autocross event on April 12–13.
Njuguna added, “The federation has allocated competition door numbers to all drivers licensed to compete in rally events this year.”
National champion Samman Vohra has been allocated the number One slot, Africa Junior Champion Hamza Anwar (2), 2024 Kenya champion Jasmeet Chana (3), former Rallystar programme graduate Jeremiah Wahome (4) and twice Africa champion Karan Patel (5) and 2022 Junior World Rally Champion contestant McRae Kimathi(6) , Carl Tundo ( 7), Ian Duncan (8), Nikhil Sachania (9) and Asad Anwar (10).
