On December 18, the 30-year-old veterinarian from Kabati in Murang’a County thrilled the crowd at the Ally Pally – as the Alexandra Palace is popularly known as – by coming from two sets down to win 3-2 against Belgian Mike De Decker, who is his country’s top-ranked darts player and the world number 18, at the 2026 Professional Darts Corporation World Darts Championship in London.

After over a decade of his unwavering support for Chelsea, Munyua finally visited Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but the occasion was bittersweet as the club's world champions fell 2-1 to Aston Villa. He was among the thousands of fans who packed the stands at the 40,000-seater Stamford Bridge to watch the match live.
In a short video posted on his Instagram account before the match, Munyua expressed his joy at being at the club, and hoped that the momentous occasion would be capped by a win for Chelsea. However, it was not to be as Aston Villa rallied from behind with a second-half brace by substitute Ollie Watkins to win. Chelsea had taken the lead in the first half through Joao Pedro.

In his interview with Sky Sports, Munyua revealed why he chose Chelsea as his favourite team.
“When I was around 10 years old, Chelsea wasn’t as famous, but they had the same energy I have now. They just came up, didn’t give up and fought. That was the time of Didier Drogba. I love the fact that they did it, and as much as Manchester United and Arsenal were more famous, I think that they were the favourite team to support by then,” he said.
Munyua’s fairytale run at the PDC World Darts Championship ended in his second round contest following a 3-0 loss to Dutchman Kevin Doets.
