Kenya Sevens captain George ‘Japolo’ Ooro has said joining a big club like eight-time Kenya Cup champion KCB Rugby is every player’s dream.

Ooro, who joins KCB, who are also four-time national sevens champions, from Strathmore University Leos, said he already feels at home having been welcomed warmly at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka.

“Expectations are high not only for the new players joining but also for the regulars at the den, especially after the team finished last season without any major trophy,” said Ooro.

Ooro goes straight into the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit campaign with the bankers. The Circuit starts with Driftwood Sevens at Mombasa Sports Club this weekend.

“It’s a good move…it’s every player’s dream to play for a top club in the country and KCB does not need any introduction,” said the 25-year-old, who is eyeing a great start in the sevens circuit before the more defining 15s season.

“My main goal is to give my best. It will be a good start if KCB reclaim the national title,” said Oroo.

Ooro is a physically versatile player who can mix it well, playing in the opening and in tight situations

He joins KCB alongside Strathmore Leos duo of second row John Aswani, and fly-half Steven “Zola” Osumba.

Kenya Under-20 and Kabras winger Brandon Biko Lusisa, Joseph Wanja, and Ian Oduor have signed for the Lions from Kabras Sugar.

Lusisa, a former Koyonzo Secondary School star, was on loan at Kisumu, where he helped them retain their position in the Kenya Cup.

Others are Kelvin Ochieng from Northern Suburbs, Collins Oduor from Nondescripts and Mike Oduor from Daystar University Falcons.
