Voter listing • The IEBC has only registered about 20,000 people since the start of the voter registration exercise two weeks ago, says Gitonga Kathurima. “Many people have encouraged the Gen Z to register as voters. However, one needs to acquire a national identity card first. The IEBC must, therefore, work with the Registrar of Persons to enable young people to acquire IDs.” His contact is [email protected].

Neglected health • Voters should petition for the dissolution of Kiambu County for neglecting the health sector, says Peter Leon Muriu. “The long-running doctors’ strike that has caused the deaths of more than 130 newborns and other fatalities should be reason enough for the people to exercise this right. The Senate health committee should help to sort it out.” His contact is [email protected].

SGR woes • The Standard Gauge Railway management should solve its customer care service and ticketing challenges, urges Bill Noti. “I’m frustrated by inefficiency. The phone numbers listed on the website are rarely answered, and there is no WhatsApp option. Secondly, forfeiting 100 per cent of the ticket cost for cancelling six hours before departure is unfair.” His contact is [email protected].

Fishy billing • Thika town resident Aggrey Choreh is unhappy with the water supply billing, as he’s convinced that he has been getting a raw deal. Says he: “Something fishy is going on in the Thika Water and Sewerage Company (Thiwasco). If one’s bill is, say Sh1,000, Thiwasco will just add a similar amount to the bill as the unexplained reconnection fee.” For the details, Aggrey’s contact is [email protected].

Hospital bills • Dealing with patients who can’t pay their medical bills is a big dilemma for most hospitals, says Eliakim Limo. “This is so and yet whenever a customer orders food at a restaurant and is unable to pay, he or she can be arrested and arraigned, but the courts are saying that a patient unable to pay the bill should be left free. This calls for a sober discourse.” His contact is [email protected].
Have a payable day, won’t you!
