Wasting funds • The annual devolution conference is nothing but an avenue for wasting scarce public money, says Evans Macharia Mwangi. “How does the rotational holding of this event in the 47 counties benefit the common mwananchi? It’s just meant for the governors and others to show off about who has the biggest limousine or wears the most expensive suit.” His contact is [email protected].

Traffic lights • One of the leading cities in East and Central Africa, Nairobi, can surely afford to install properly functioning traffic lights at all the key junctions and roundabouts, says David Githae. “The traffic police/city marshals cause more problems than they solve. Someone is sleeping on the job, or these people are more interested in money hitting their pockets.” His contact is [email protected].

Flooded • Nairobi Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria can do better than his frequently filmed “grand tours of dustbin unveilings”, says Samuel Muthamia. “Woodvale Grove in Westlands has become the city’s newest water feature. The recent rains turned the road into a river, with no sign of the CEC. I would imagine clearing drains is worth filming, too?” His contact is [email protected]

Outages • Power outages have become a daily nuisance for the residents of Galilee in Makwa, Gatundu North, Kiambu County, says Arthur Lubia. “It has been particularly bad this week. We’ve complained many times but the problem persists. Elderly patients, who need to keep their medicines in fridges, are suffering. Can Kenya Power come to our rescue?” His contact is [email protected].

Swift response • Hats off to Nairobi Water Company, says an elated Rajesh Shah, following its quick response to his complaint that was published yesterday about water that has been flowing to waste on Donyo Sabuk Avenue, off Peponi Road, for over three weeks. He adds: “They stemmed the leak before we could even blink, proving that we’re actually in safe hands.” His contact is [email protected]. Have a swift day, won’t you!
