Fake papers: Sacking of 449 civil servants is good news
Drums of war • Instead of correcting the shortcomings to serve Kenyans better, some leaders are beating the drums of war, says David Yator. “I hope the International Criminal Court is watching those making utterances that are the recipe for chaos by declaring that whether President William Ruto is voted for or not for his second term, he’s going nowhere.” His email address is [email protected].

Unemployment • The 2,517 applications for the principal secretary positions in government ministries are a confirmation of the country’s high unemployment rate, says Gitonga Kathurima. “Out of all those, only 109 have been shortlisted for interviews by the Public Service Commission. That leaves a huge number of other applicants still looking for jobs.” His contact is [email protected].

Punish all • The sacking of 449 civil servants out of the 1,019 staff found to have used fake academic certificates to get employment is good news, indeed, says Jim Webo. “The ongoing investigations will definitely increase the number of those to be axed, which is super. But what of those who took bribes to offer the jobs to these unqualified people? They should not be allowed to go scot-free.”

Slow Knec • The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) could just cost Samuel Nyamweya Omari a good opportunity by not responding to a request to confirm his KCSE exam certificate. Says he: “Over two weeks later, Knec has yet to respond. In this technological era, someone is sleeping on the job. It shouldn’t take more than 48 hours to confirm.” He can be reached through [email protected].

Health scam • Keen to take advantage of a recent highly publicised free medical screening camp in Ngara, Nairobi, James Gakuo says a friend of his quickly went for it. He adds: “She was tested, found to have fibroids and promptly advised to fill in a Social Health Insurance Fund form and then booked for surgery. Isn’t this a public medical scam?” His contact is [email protected].
Have a suspicious day, won’t you!
