Doctors’ strike • The Ministry of Health and the doctors’ union should hold serious talks on their grievances to avert another nationwide strike, says Richard Okusi. “The persisting problems are poor salaries and allowances, and the need for better and safer working conditions. These are some of the pressing needs that must be addressed by the health authorities.” His contact is [email protected].

Housing • There is a proliferation of high-rise buildings in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa and Othaya Road, notes Diana D’Souza, who doesn’t know whether these are the affordable housing units the government talks about. But she wonders whether these are not being put up by foreigners with ulterior motives, such as taking control of the city’s housing sector. Her email address is [email protected].

Congestion • There is a spacious, newly constructed bus park near the Asian Quarter in Nyeri Town that matatu operators are unwilling to be relocated to, says Nicholas Murithi. “This town is one of the most congested and poorly planned urban centres in East Africa, with three bus parks within its central business district. It’s high time this was resolved.” His contact is [email protected].

Danger • Following the recent deaths of two young cousins in an accident involving a miraa-carrying pick-up, Joram Mukunde would like to know from none other than Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja and the NTSA whether these drivers are above the law. “How come none of them has ever been arrested and charged with speeding and reckless driving?” His contact is [email protected].

Creativity • Taking his hat off to some really creative Kenyans, Dickson K says: “I must congratulate the person who created the ‘Kasongo’ silhouette and made a storyline. There is a need to nurture Kenyans’ talents. This is a reminder of how the creative economy can help to turn around the country, if tapped wisely, especially given our freedom of speech.” His contact is [email protected].

Have a hilarious day, won’t you!
