Russia war • The recruitment of Kenyans to fight in foreign wars is troubling, says Allan Kinyua Murianki. “Many are lured by unscrupulous agents who promise them genuine jobs, only to be forcibly conscripted into the military. The silence by the Foreign Affairs ministry is worrying. How do these Kenyans travel to Russia? The government must protect the lives of its citizens.” His contact is [email protected].

Collect garbage • Nairobi City County did quite well by installing litter bins in residential estates and fixing them firmly into the ground to avert theft, says Stephen Njuru. “But they’re now mostly overflowing with stinking garbage, as the county collection teams have never come back to empty them. Can the city authorities, please, do something about thus?” His email address is [email protected].

Danger • The rainy season is here, with heavy downpours in Kakamega County, as electricity poles fall over or bend, leaving cables hanging loosely, thus endangering lives, says Breeze Lugondo. “During strong winds, we see sparks in Mukhweso sub-location. In grave danger are schoolchildren walking along the roads. Can Kenya Power fix the faulty cables?” His contact is [email protected].

Neglect • It’s a shame to see many schoolchildren, other people, and livestock suffering due to a lack of water, and yet their own leaders have resources they can use to drill boreholes, especially in the drier areas, says Peter John. “Asked to explain their extravagant spending of public money, they give lame excuses. We need leaders who care about the plight of poor people.” His contact is [email protected].

Enjoy life • All should enjoy life, as it is God’s gift, and a unique opportunity for every person to savour, Pamilla Mugure Mbotella advises. “While you are alive, try to relish it with some gratitude. The dead can do nothing of the sort. But the living should love, serve, hope and celebrate God’s blessings daily and always with a lot of joy.” Her email address is [email protected].
